Garden Safari was started by two ex-primary teachers, with science degrees - Jane in Biology and Steve in Electronics. Jane and Steve have moved on to other things and Garden Safarai is now run by Charlie, who is a former farmer who now teaches Rural Science at a private school and his wife, Clare
We know the power of lessons that bring the real world into your classroom, and with the growth of interactive whiteboards and school networks, Garden Safari lets you do just that. Raining outside? No problem. Our camera systems operate night and day, rain or shine, so no lesson ever needs to be a washout. Garden Safari is an ideal introduction into the processes of food chains and life cycles, but the usefulness doesn't stop there. How about using one of our bird feeders? Put out different types of food and do a census on which species come to feed. Or do a "traffic count" on our bird table from the comfort of the classroom.
We're budget-friendly, too.
We understand just how precious your science budget can be, so we offers schools and other bona-fide educational establishments discounts on everything we sell. Why choose us?
There are many bird box cameras on the market these days, and frankly we think many are rubbish. Here are a few reasons why:
- We don't use cheap, thin plywood. Our boxes are made from solid wood - at least 22mm thick - to keep our boxes naturally snug and dry. All of our wood comes from forests that are certified by the Forestry commission as sustainably managed.
- We don't stain, paint or treat our wood in any way - because birds, bats and squirrels sometimes use each other's boxes, and paint that is safe for one can be toxic to the other.
- We don't put windows or panels in our boxes that would disturb the bird or bats in them. Our cameras use infrared light that they can't see. Many of competitors use cheaper cameras and either put plastics panels into the boxes so that they are flooded by bright daylight, or worse still, shine lights permanently into the nest. In nature, chicks grow up in semi-darkness, and that's what their eyes are used to. We want to observe nature, not change it.
- Garden Safari are SEGfL accredited. We are developing a range of lesson plans to support our products in both the primary and secondary national science and maths curricula
- We work hard to keep our costs down and pass the savings onto you.
Now here's the best bit. Our Bird box cameras start from just £69, plus P&P. That's not a kit - that's fully assembled and ready to use. And that's before the discount, which ranges from 10% to 30% for larger orders. Want to know more? Email us and tell us what you are looking for.
